Peppered ASMR Interview

Thanks to Pepe for answering my ridiculously long set of questions.

There are a couple of really inspiring anecdotes in here. The one about the dog and the ASMR request Pepe received and made a video on. Brilliant!

You can check out his Peppered ASMR YouTube channel here where his main focus in on roleplay – but more of that later!

What do you do to relax or for fun away from ASMR? I sing, act, cook, play disc golf, and play Fortnite and NBA 2K on my PS5.

Tell us about ASMR and your YouTube channel

How would you describe your ASMR channel? My ASMR channel is all about creating a relaxing and unique experience for people.

I love coming up with creative roleplays that can make people feel good, think, and even laugh a little.

It’s like taking a mini-vacation to escape from the craziness of life for a little while.

Why did you get into ASMR? It’s actually pretty cool how I stumbled upon ASMR. My brother suggested it as a growing niche and I decided to check it out. As soon as I started exploring the community, I just knew it was a perfect fit for me.

It’s such a unique and wonderful space where people can unwind, relax, and experience something truly special. It’s like a match made in heaven – I’m so grateful I found it!

Your favourite types of ASMR? I love making roleplay videos with a storyline. It’s the perfect way to combine my passions for storytelling and ASMR. Creating interesting characters and plots that take viewers on an immersive escape is seriously the best.

How does ASMR make you feel? ASMR usually makes me feel good, but it really depends on the video I’m watching.

Do you still watch ASMR Videos? Yes, mainly for inspiration or entertainment.

How often do you watch ASMR? Weekly

Your own biggest ASMR Triggers? Page turning

Your favourite ASMR artist/s and why? Atlas ASMR. I am in awe with the visual and audio quality of his videos. (My note, I will check out Atlas ASMR!)

What are the main benefits for viewers from watching your content? I hope they relax, unwind, laugh a little, maybe even shake their head.. lol

What makes your ASMR Videos different from many others? First I am not the typical ASMRtist. I am a Black Hispanic male in my late 40’s.

I am comfortable in front of the lens and I can connect with people because I genuinely like people. I am an optimist and try to believe the best about others.

The most memorable thing to happen making a video? I was able to create a video, on request, for a lady who wanted to reminisce about her deceased father who used to read her “The Velveteen Rabbit” as a bedtime story. (My note, that is such a cool story!)

What is the most enjoyable part of creating ASMR content? The community and their thankfulness. I am still amazed that people actually like my weird style.

What is the hardest part of running a YouTube channel? It never grows fast enough and it’s tough trying to understand and work the algorithm.

Every day people write and say that my channel is underrated. I don’t really know how to respond. I am just going to keep creating fun content and let it “do what it do”

Do you read all the comments? Every single one. I also try to respond to each one.

What’s the best comment you have read? I created a video named “Comforting Child after Death of a Pet Dog” and someone lost their dog and found comfort through the video.

This might seem small and trivial to many, but for that person dealing with grief, it was needed and welcomed comfort.

Any plans for collaborations? Nothing is in the works, but I am always willing to listen. (pepperedasmr@gmail.com)

What is new on your channel this year? I’ve added some new characters. 1 is ASMR Roleplay: Kang The Conqueror, Gus Fring, and Black Panther, Kanye West.

What do you see trending in your area of ASMR? My Luxury Relaxing Spa videos are always popular

Where do you see ASMR content being in 5 years? More immersive

How do you see AI such as ChatGPT impacting ASMR in the future? AI like ChatGPT will have a massive impact on ASMR in the future, mark my words.

I’m already using it for my videos, and it’s been a game changer. With ChatGPT, I’ve been able to come up with new ideas, create captivating images, and even write scripts. If you’re not using it yet, you’re missing out big time! Trust me, AI is here to stay, so you better embrace it before it’s too late. (AI helped rephrase this answer) 🙂
